TreeTop is one of the most popular bands in Northwest Connecticut.
They perform classic rock and blues at many clubs, parties and events in Litchfield County and beyond. TreeTop (originally TreeTop Orchestra, and later TreeTop Blues) started back in 1995 as an improvisation band playing for fun after hours in a private school auditorium in Litchfield, CT. Nick Mainella, percussionist, recalls persuading guitarist Joe Bouchard to participate in several extended freeform jams. From those humble beginnings the band known as TreeTop sprouted.
Joe Bouchard has been a professional musician for most of his life and was a founding member of world famous Columbia recording artists, Blue Oyster Cult. With Columbia he recorded 14 albums and earned 11 gold and platinum records. Songs he recorded in the 70s like Don't Fear the Reaper and Burnin' For You are songs that are continually played on classic rock radio and are covered by many famous recording artists.
In 1986 he left BOC to pursue other interests. For a time he worked as a private school teacher, a publishing editor, and an orchestra conductor. By the mid 90s he again felt the call of rock and roll and started performing with TreeTop.
Saxophonist Alan Becker is a multitalented instrumentalist. He has a degree in music from The University of Bridgeport, and has playing in many Connecticut groups including the funky Apricot Brandy.
Ray Williard is the newest member of the TreeTop sound. He lays down a solid foundation for the band and sings lead on several bluesy numbers. He is a veteran of many bands including Connecticut’s own Impact, a classic rock cover band.
Drummer
Bob Sparks performed with Nick in the legendary band, Friendly Fire. When there was an opening in TreeTop on the drums, Nick asked Bob to join up with TreeTop. He adds a level of sophistication to the TreeTop sound and is responsible for most of their bookings. |
